The Spikedrivers - Crown Hotel - Friday 6th April

“From the first note, Spikedrivers demand to be looked at and listened to. “Blues in Britain
One of the most original, innovative and exciting bands around, their combination of gutsy slide guitar, rock-solid bass, infectious grooves and highly distinctive vocals, creates a sound that is uniquely their own. They take you on a journey, from southern juke-joints and lazy front porches to the huge open spaces of dust bowls and railroad tracks disappearing into the distance…..

Wilko Johnson + Support - Nantwich Civic Hall - Sunday 8th April

When rock’n'roll was shaken from its pre-punk complacency by the emergence of Dr. Feelgood, it was their guitarist Wilko Johnson who excited most attention  not only for the startling violence of his stage performance (which was to inspire countless imitators and become one of the classic images of rock’n'roll) but also for his guitar style which combined the roles of lead and rhythm guitar in driving riffs and a stuttering machine gun frenzy which altered conceptions of ‘guitar heroics’.

Jacqui Dankworth - St Mary's Church - Mon 9th April

Given her musical pedigree – daughter of Dame Cleo Laine and the late Sir John Dankworth – it’s no surprise that JACQUI DANKWORTH is considered to be “one of the classiest acts in British jazz singing” (The Guardian). Her highly acclaimed recordings to date have been stylistically diverse, incorporating elements of folk, blues and many other forms that have also demonstrated her superb skill as an eclectic songwriter.

The Beat - Nantwich Civic Hall - Mon 9th April

Ska at it’s best, The Beat bring their hit singles including ‘Mirror In The Bathroom’, ‘Can’t Get Used to Losing You’, ‘Hands Off… She’s Mine’ and ‘Best Friend’ to The Civic. With a catalogue such as this it was easy to see why the The Beat would become one of the most popular recording and live acts in the UK. Don’t expect to stand still much.
